WOMEN AND GIRLS RIGHTS DEFENDERS WORKSHOP

YouthHubAfrica invites young men and women to register for Women’s and girls rights defenders Training Workshop. This workshop is for women and girls right defenders in FCT and Ebonyi State. This two-day capacity building workshop will provide training for over 400 women’s and girls’ right defenders (200 in FCT and 200 in Ebonyi state) equipping them with relevant skills to better engage with traditional and religious leaders to advocate for the prevention and response to Ending Violence Against Women and Girls, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and Harmful Practices and to promote women and girls right including Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.

WORTH
The participants will be able to learn:
  • The Art of Story-telling
  • Effective communication
  • Developing Advocacy plans
  • Using media & technology for advocacy
ELIGIBILITY
Open to women and men who reside in the FCT and Ebonyi
Workshop Dates:
  • The training will run all through the month of March 2020.

Nomination for Active Citizenship in Education Award 2020 for Young Leaders in Nigeria

The Active Citizenship In Education Award is a periodic public recognition and awards for young Nigerians living in Nigeria who s above and beyond their civic duties to contribute to removing barriers and improving access to quality education for children and young people in Nigeria.

The purpose of this initiative is to create awareness about the importance of quality education in national development and encourage all citizens t regularly take actions (online or offline) that contribute to achieving quality education for all, i.e the UN Sustainable development Goals (SDGs) 4 for Nigeria.

Benefits:
  • The winners will receive a recognition e-certificate and an Award Plaque. With possible other benefits from partners.
  • Any Nigerian between the age of 15 and 35, living in Nigeria can be nominated for the Award.
  • Activities of the nominees must be Nigeria, including the beneficiaries.
  • Self-nomination is allowed and highly encouraged.
  • The number of times a person is nominated does not by any way influence the outcome of the selection process.
Selection Criteria:



The finalists will be selected based on significant contributions to the education sector in Nigeria either through individual efforts or through the nominee’s corporate entity activities which will be deducted from the nomination form received and a further interview with selected nominees.

2020 INTERNATIONAL ESSAY CONTEST FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

This annual essay contest is organized in an effort to harness the energy, creativity and initiative of the world’s youth in promoting a culture of peace and sustainable development. It also aims to inspire society to learn from young minds and to think about how each of us can make a difference in the world.
Theme: “A Letter from Myself in 2030”
Imagine what an ideal world ten years from now would be like. Write a letter from yourself in 2030 to your present (2020) self, in which you describe the state of the world, the way people are living, and what you, yourself, are doing in society. In addition, include any important message that you might wish to tell your present self.
WORTH
The following awards will be given in the Children’s category and Youth category respectively:
  • 1st Prize: Certificate, a prize of 100,000 Yen (approx. US$900 as of Feb. 2020) … 1 entrant
  • 2nd Prize: Certificate, a prize of 50,000 Yen (approx. US$450 as of Feb. 2020) and gift … 2 entrants
  • 3rd Prize: Certificate and gift … 5 entrants
  • Honourable Mention: Certificate and gift … 25 entrants.

ELIGIBILITY
  • Essays may be submitted by anyone up to 25 years old (as of June 15, 2020) in one of the following age categories: a) Children (ages up to 14) b) Youth (ages 15 – 25)
  • Essays must be 700 words or less in English, French, Spanish or German, or 1600 characters or less in Japanese, excluding essay title and cover page. Essays may be typed or printed.
  • Essays must be original and unpublished. Plagiarized entries will be rejected.
  • Essays must be written by one person. Co-authored essays are not accepted.
  • Copyright of the essays entered will be assigned to the organizer.
