IFRA Writing workshop 2020 on Rethinking Development in Nigeria

Application is open for the IFRA Writing workshop 2020 on Rethinking Development in Nigeria.
The theme of the programme is Rethinking Development in Nigeria: Economic History, Ideas, Policies and it will be taking place at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria from July 22-24, 2020.

Over the course of three days, sixteen (16) early career researchers based in Nigerian universities will present their paper receive feedback and develop productive interactions and meaningful relationships with a team of 13 distinguished senior researches and journal editors from Africa, Europe, and the Americans.

Themes:
They encourage the applicant to submit papers providing historical perspectives on the contemporary concerns reflected in the united nations sustainable development goals.
These include, but are not limited to work that offers sophisticated Historial analyses of the following issues in the Nigerian context.

  • Poverty 
  • hunger
  • Agriculture and industry 
  • labour
  • trade
  • Demographic change
  • History of economic thought etc.


Eligibility:
Open to early-career researchers (current PhD students or scholars who have complete their PhDs not earlier than jultb31,2018) based in Nigerian universities.

Global Changemakers Essay Competition 2020 for Young Leaders Worldwide

Entries are invited for global changemakers essay competition 2020 for young leaders worldwide. the essay competition is in honour of the upcoming launch of the global changemakers blog.

They invite anyone aged 15-30 from anywhere in the world to share their views, stories, creative writing pieces, journalism pieces, personal experience, opinions, etc. on the overarching competition theme of 'we are global changemakers: young people leading the change'.

Here are some prompts to inspire ideas:
  • Youth civic engagement
  • Youth-led activism 
  • Youth and social innovation
  • Youth participation 
  • Youth-led organisations
  • Youth and sustainable development goals.

Prizes:
They will select three winners and five runners up. they will also award a number of "honourable mentions.
  • The winners will receive free access to resources available on changemakers school for a period of 6 months and will be featured on global changemakers social media channels (160K+reach)
  • The runners up will receive a 50%discount to resources available on changemakers school for a period of 6 months.

Eligibility:
Anyone aged 15-30 from any country is welcome to submit an entry into the competition.


Evaluation Criteria.
  • Theme: How essay creatively related to the competition theme or one of the topics prompt.
  • Focus and Details: whether essays are well focused and supported.
  • Organisation and Ideas: How original ideas are. hoe they are presented and whether they capture the readers' attention
  • Use of Conventions: Whether spelling, grammar and punctuation interrupt reading and detract from the meaning of the essay.
  • Voice: Whether the writers unique perspective is shown.

Application 

Essays must be submitted in English using the official submission form before might central European time on March 15, 2020. Essays should be between 3000 and 7000 characters( with spaces ) in length and should be the writers own work.
