CHEVENING SCHOLARSHIP

Chevening Scholarships are awarded to individuals with demonstrable leadership potential who also have strong academic backgrounds and a strong vision for the future. The scholarship offers full financial support to study for any eligible master’s degree at any UK university whilst also giving access to a wide range of exclusive academic, professional, and cultural experiences.

To be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship you must:

Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.

Return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended.

Have completed all components of an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a postgraduate programme at a UK university by the time you submit your application. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK.

Have at least two years of work experience.

Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by 16 July 2020.

THE BLUE BOOK TRAINEESHIP.

Each year the European Commission offers 2 five months, paid traineeships, for 1,300 trainees; administrative or translation.

Trainees work all over the European Commission/Services/Agencies mostly in Brussels, but also in Luxembourg and across the European Union. The content of the job depends on the service you are assigned to, you may, for example, work in the field of competition law, human resources, environmental policy etc.

Eligibility Requirements:

Subject to eligibility criteria, the traineeship is open to all EU citizens regardless of age. A limited number of places are also allocated to non-EU nationals.

Have a university degree or equivalent, of at least 3 years of study, corresponding to a complete cycle (Bachelor’s).

Have a very good knowledge (C level as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) of two EU official languages, one of which must be a procedural language: English or French or German. For non-EU nationals, only one procedural language is required.

Have no prior work experience of any kind, over 6 weeks in any EU institution, body or agency, EU delegations, with Members of Parliament (MEPs) or Advocates General at the EUCJ.

Translation Traineeship:

If you apply for a translation traineeship (in the Directorate-General for Translation), you must be able to translate into your main (target) language (normally your native language) from two other official EU languages (source languages):

Your main (target) language must be one of the official EU languages.

Your first source of language must be a working language: English, French or German.

Your second source language can be any of the official EU languages (B2 at least but level C1/C2 best suits the needs of translation).

The living allowance for the traineeships sessions will be €1,196.84 per month.

Visa costs and related medical fees may be reimbursed together with travel expenditures.

ADOBE RESEARCH WOMEN-IN-TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP 2020 FOR UNDERGRADUATE FEMALES STUDYING COMPUTER SCIENCE

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the 2020 Adobe Research Women-in-Technology Scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

Be a female student currently enrolled as an undergraduate (2nd year or above) or masters student at a university for the 2019-2020 academic year. The first-year undergraduate students are not eligible. Students must have completed at least one year of university education.

Intend to be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or masters student at a university for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Be majoring in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related technical field.

Maintain a strong academic record

Not have a close relative working for Adobe Research.

Academic transcripts from your current and/or past institution

Scholarship Details

The Adobe Research Women-in-Technology Scholarship includes:

A $10,000 award paid once.

A Creative Cloud subscription membership for one year.

An Adobe Research mentor.

An opportunity to interview for an internship at Adobe.

A committee of Adobe researchers will review all applicants and select the winners at their discretion. Recipients are selected based on their academic record, a personal statement, and three letters of reference. Students may be invited for phone interviews following the initial review.

Scholarship recipients will be announced by November 20, 2019.

This profile is for the sole purpose of the Internship Programme of the United Nations Conference for Trade and Development. There should be no expectation of employment within the UN after an internship. Interns shall not be eligible to apply for or be appointed to, positions at the professional level and above carrying international recruitment status in the Secretariat for six months following the end of their internship. UN interns must have a valid visa. The Internship Programme is unpaid and full-time, i.e. an intern is expected to work five days per week (8:30 am to 5:30 pm).

This position is located in the front office of the Division for Africa, Least Developed Countries and Special Programmes. The internship will start on 30 September 2019 for 3 months.

Applicants should:

• Be computer literate in standard software applications;

• Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and

For this position, the university degree must be in the area of journalism, international relations, public administration or related area.

Work Experience: Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.

Languages: Fluency in English is required for this internship. Knowledge of French is desirable.
